Product Description
Written by Anglican bishop Reginald Heber (1783-1826) for Trinity Sunday in the liturgical year, "Holy, Holy, Holy" is a hymn that speaks specifically on the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. John Bacchus Dykes (18231876), an Anglican priest who wrote more than 300 hymn tunes, composed "NICAEA" to accompany Hebers text. The tunes name is a tribute to the First Council of Nicaea, which formalized the doctrine of the Trinity in 325 A.D.
A lively dance rhythm characterizes this arrangement, which includes a straightforward presentation of the tune by horn in the first verse, a descant by horn in the second verse, and a modulation to the final, maestoso verse.
