To spirits left in darkness,
Longing for the light,
Death is like a prison,
Time like endless night.
Awaiting their deliverance,
Prayers ascend on high,
"Save us from this darkness.
Let our spirits fly."
Once crucified, our Savior,
Buried in the tomb,
Burst this earthly boundary
Lighting death's dark room
He visited the spirits
Of the righteous dead,
Organized His forces,
Souls to lift from dread.
The Word is preached in prison!
All may see the light,
Free to choose the truth or
Wallow still in fright.
Now those who heed the warnings
Look to earthly friends,
Waiting for baptism,
Sinful souls to cleanse.
Then in the resurrection,
Fear will flee away.
Judgment will be perfect.
Love will rule the day.
The Light that shines in darkness,
Giving hope to all,
Christ the Resurrected,
Saved us from the Fall.
