Product Description

This 1978 composition was inspired by the book (Chinmoku - Silence) by Shusaku Endo (a historical novel based on events in Japan in the 17th century - the title refers to the silence of God in the face of suffering. Kichijiro is the name of the protagonist in the novel) Half-way through, the music goes into a moving and sad pentatonic version of the carol "O Come all you faithful" followed by a more energettic version of the original theme mixed with the carol The pdf file contains score and parts The sound sample is an electronic preview The first live performance of the version for flute and guitar can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UV2XiRXC-U Versions for flute and guitar, cello and guitar and flute and harp are available on this site.
