While maintaining characteristics of Mascagni's original work, subtle variations add a contemporary interpretation creating a relaxing instrumental selection when combined with the meditative hymn by C. H. Forrest.

The hymn's melody is played by the right hand for the first verse and then by the left hand for the second verse. Excerpts of Mascagni's opera provide the introduction, interlude, and concluding phrase. Duration 2:45.
