Product Description
Jacques Arcadelt was a composer in the Renaissance period who is mostly known for his 4-part madrigals. Most of his life was spent in Italy, where he was a singer and composer, and was said to have written over 200 madrigals, among other works. He spent the later part of his life in France.
Madrigals are secular vocal pieces, so it is most effective when sung. However, many madrigals are great instrumental-only pieces too. This collection of 3 madrigals is scored for 4 alto saxophones. The 4th part could also be played by a baritone. The phrase marks are positioned according to the Italian lyrics.
The three madrigals are:
Alas, if My Lady
Alas, Where is the Beautiful Face
Kill Me Then, O Grievous Tortures
These madrigals can be played for any occasion.
