In Thailand, there are two anthems in daily use, the National Anthem and the Royal Anthem. The National Anthem is a jaunty march-like melody played on the radio (and over loudspeakers in many local communities) every morning and evening. The Royal Anthem is performed at all formal occasions; it's played at the beginning of every concert and recital and also in movie theaters before the main feature.
This compelling orchestral arrangement by Colin Kirkpatrick has been performed by the Bangkok Charity Orchestra and is in concert E flat. It's scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 B flat clarinets, 2 bassoons; 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, tuba, timpani (3 drums), percussion and strings.
