Product Description

This is a set of original organ compositions written November 25-29 and in various moods of the winter season. No. 1 is a bold introit in D minor. No. 2 is a nostalgic waltz in E flat major. No. 3 is a pensive ballad in E minor. No. 4 is a joyous Christmas feeling composition with chimes at the beginning and end in A major. No. 5 is a lullaby that expands in grand fashion. Stevens' "Winter Preludes" have already been recorded by some prominent organists such as Carson Cooman of Harvard University, James Flores of Australia, and the YouTube video consisting of all five preludes was uploaded by Fred Mellink of the Netherlands on January 4, 2022. The MP3 is of No. 4. James Michael Stevens is a prolific composer residing in Nashville, TN and serves as the Music Department Chairman of Welch College.
