This march was written to pay tribute to the soldiers who took part in the liberation of France during the Second World War.
The first section honors the Commonwealth forces, whose courage and sacrifice greatly contributed to the liberation.
The second section is dedicated to the American troops, who played a decisive role in the campaign.
Finally, the last section pays homage to the French forces who fought to reclaim their homeland.

It must be noted that this musical tribute reflects only the Western perspective of the conflict in 1944.
