Product Description

Polish composer Wojciech Kilar's love theme from Coppola's movie masterpiece is at the same time achingly beautiful and full of sadness and longing. This concert band arrangement is faithful to the original version with extended ending. The full range of registers is employed, from tubas' low E to flutes' high C. Additional colour is provided by the inclusion of rarer instruments, such as the English horn (cor anglais), the flugelhorn, and the harp, creating together an exciting and mysterious atmosphere.

"Mina/Dracula" starts with long deep notes, reminiscent of the breathing of a sleeping beast. Soon, the plaintive theme of tenderness and yearning is introduced by a solo bassoon and thereafter carried through several different instrumentations, culminating in a strong tutti sequence. A quiet woodwind chorale ends the piece, as if implying that the age-old lovers have finally found solace.
