Getting Going - For Young Jazz Band

This piece is written as a great introduction to swing for young players. Written in an accessible key (F major, meaning the Alto Saxes are in D and the trumpets in G), it is designed to be playable and good round the fingers.

The main riff is catchy and leads to punchy chords with drum fills to allow the kit player to take a bit of the limelight. Keyboard, guitar and bass parts are written simply, with tab parts for both guitars if prefered.

This isn't quite for beginners - parts are there for grade 1 and 2 players. The first parts on each instrument are approx grade 2-3.

There are additional parts written for flutes and french horn, recognising that schools often have these extra instruments to join. Other Bb instruments (tenor horns etc) could easily play tenor sax or clarinet parts, allowing everyone to join in.

This is a great way to "Get going" with your band and audiences will enjoy it too!
