Product Description

Gustav Holst's "The Planets," op. 32, is a seven-movement orchestral suite inspired by the astrological significance of the planets, excluding Earth (because it has no astrological significance) and Pluto (which hadn't been discovered yet at the time of composition). The suite was composed between 1914 and 1917, during World War I, and each movement depicts a different planet's astrological character. Mars, the Bringer of War, is the first movement of "The Planets" and invokes intensity and unease by shadowing a time of war and turmoil.

This woodwind quartet arrangement takes the ferocity of a powerful movement from a timeless orchestral work to a smaller, albeit challenging, setting for audiences and musicians alike to enjoy.
