They Don't Know by the late great Kirsty MacColl was Tracey Ullman's biggest UK hit in the early 80s. Two decades later Paul Heatley arranged the song to be performed by the acapella pop choir Kitsch in Sync with lead vocals by soprano Alice who loved this song and had recently eloped to marry her husband Hugo - so this would be a great wedding song! The arrangement is for SATB + female soloist, with the soprano descant honoring the harmony that MacColl herself sang on Ullman's recording. Much thought went into choosing the sounds the singers would make for their "instrumental" parts, and the soloist's climactic 'Baby!' that introduces the final verse is preceded by a punchy "Doo-wop, shoo-wop, shoo-wop!" from the accompanying voices.
