Rhythmania is a piece that will have young string orchestra students on the edge of their seats as they focus on counting to stay on track in this mixed meter piece. This D Major level 1.5 piece introduces the concept of mixed meters in a fun and engaging way. The piece moves between 6/8 and 2/4 but there are lots of eighth notes to subdivide the beats and help with counting. A contrasting d minor section allows the students to settle into 6/8 for awhile, but soon the original mixed meter melody returns. Every section gets a chance to shine as they play the melody and every section gets to provide the important subdivided harmony part.
