Product Description

Duetto buffo di due Gatti is a popular piece for two voices, often performed as an encore. The lyrics consist only of the word "miau" ("meow"), which is repeated over and over again. The piece is attributed to Gioacchino Rossini. But it is not entirely by him, but a compilation from 1825 based on motifs from his opera Otello. This arrangement was probably by the English composer Robert Lucas Pearsall. The present arrangement was written for and and first time performed with two solo trumpets using wah-wah mutes by the Municipal Band of Zirl, Austria conducted by the arranger in November 2015 and repeated with vocal soloists by the academy orchestra of Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg, also conducted by Albert Schwarzmann at a concert at Mozarteum University in Salzburg in October 2016.
