Product Description

The Congratulations Minuet was a gift from Beethoven to Karl Friedrich Hensler, director of the Josefstadt Theater in Vienna. After its ceremonial reopening in October 1822, Hensler celebrated his name day on 4 November. At the evening before after a surprising ceremony in the theatre, having moved to his apartment, the real surprise should happen yet. The musicians performed several pieces under the windows of his apartment including the minuet, Beethoven had composed for this special occasion. The arrangement of the overture is kept in the original key and was first time performed by the Municipal Band of Zirl, Tyrol, Austria conducted by Albert Schwarzmann on 26 November 2022, who wrote this arrangement for the 200th anniversary of his band. Performance Note: Tuba is not desired as a sound colour, but only as an alternative in case of too few contrabass instruments.
