Product Description

RED INK
Concerto for Double Bass and String Orchestra (2019)

Red Ink was commissioned by the Matseer Diabelli Sommer festival in Salzburg, Austria and is dedicated to the bassist Leon Bosch.
This concerto serves as a musical memorial to the Soweto Uprising of 1976 in South Africa, an event that marked a turning point in the fight against apartheid but which came at a devastating human cost. The works structure follows a clear program, capturing the emotional essence of that day:
I The Dawn of a Fateful Day

II Confrontation and Tragedy

III A Song of Mourning

With the double bass as its powerful and expressive voice, Red Ink weaves a narrative of trepidation, tragedy, and remembrance.
This edition comprises a piano reduction and the solo double bass part in solo tuning.
