Product Description
Inspired by the timeless marches of the past, March of the Grapes sets to serve as a contemporary counterpart to these classics. This piece follows a traditional march style, with full modern band instrumentation & writing. A main focus in this march is the idea that the same idea should never be executed twice. The composer took great care to ensure that there is always a new musical thought happening, whether it be in the form of style, instrumentation, tempo, etc., the audience will stay invested throughout the entire duration.
The title, while admittedly strange, was inspired by the marchs fun sound, reminiscent of a summer day. A certain carefree feeling of just being outside, and maybe enjoying some fruit. I believe this march will truly exemplify this feeling, and the performers & audience members take away something, whether they connect it to the title or not. The trio of the march features a motif from my first published piece, My Joy, which sets this feeling of happiness right in the center.
I began writing this piece in 2025 for my AP Music Theory class, and I have since then written it for a full concert band. I hope that you enjoy your time with March of the Grapes, and, as always, feel free to make it your own. Every performance is special!
