This orchestration of The Loveliest Night of the Year showcases the timeless charm of the 1951 hit made famous by Mario Lanza. Originally adapted from Juventino P. Rosass 1888 waltz Sobre las olas, the melody was revitalised with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster for the MGM film The Great Caruso, where it was first sung by Ann Blyth.
A perfect choice for gala concerts, pops programs or special event features, this arrangement brings together classic film nostalgia and operatic beauty in a stirring performance piece.
Also famously recorded by:
Helen OConnell (1950)
Ann Blyth (1951)
Vera Lynn (1954)
Connie Francis (1960)
Bing Crosby (1962)
Keely Smith (1962)
