Product Description
Bees play a crucial role in pollinating many of the fruits, vegetables, and other plant life on Earth. Many species of bees live in colonies with workers, drone, and a queen bee leading the colony. Even though bees have an important role to play in our ecosystem, a swarm of bees can be quite unsettling to experience.
Throughout the work, staccatos and accents are used. It is worth spending time practicing these articulations before they are applied to the work.
Swarm! (approximate length: 2' 15") can be performed by a minimal concert ensemble of flutes, clarinets, alto saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and percussion. This selection has some special effects as well. When parts are marked scream, performers should use a healthy shrieking/screaming voice (not included in audio). In measure 31, some players have a fall note marked with an x notehead. The players should play the note, then descend down to the lowest register of their instrument for 4 counts. A short glissando is written for the trombone players in measures 17 & 19. Baritone & bassoon players can slur normally.
