Product Description

Two old texts from the British Isles are combined with a haunting tune from an 18th-century Mennonite source to convey what it might have been like to be present at the Nativity and hear Mary sing a lullaby to her newborn son. The arrangement (for tenor solo, treble choir, and piano) creates a mystical atmosphere, with a climactic "Alleluia" section and a hushed, spell-bound ending. The audio sample is the central minute and a half of the piece, as recorded by Vancouver's award-winning treble choir Elektra, with the arranger at the piano, and tenor Carman Price. (Excerpt used by permission -- the complete track is available on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, et al.) Total duration: ca. 3'30".
