Product Description

This is an arrangement of the 1926 song "Someone to Watch Over Me." It is arranged for solo piano, and features jazz concepts from different eras. There are elements of "stride" style piano playing of the 1920s and 1930s, influenced by James P. Johnson and Art Tatum. There are also more modern jazz concepts of harmony in the arrangement, such as "drop-2" chords and contrary voice motion, influenced by Barry Harris. The introductory verse has a dreamy mood, and the outro features some more dissonant or experimental harmonies. It is not easy to play, but I managed to combine many influences into one piece in a way that I'm proud of.
