Product Description
Looking for a fresh, new Christmas cantata? The Christmas story has now been set to the beautiful, ever popular music of the Nutcracker Suite, by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The eight pieces comprising this suite have each been set to a different part of the Christmas story. These include the angel's announcement to Mary, Mary's song of praise to God, Joseph's response to his dream, Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem, the angel's announcement to the shepherds, the shepherds' quest for the Christ child, the wise men, and "The Word was made flesh".
It is truly amazing that each of these pieces so wonderfully expresses the tone of each of these parts of the Christmas story, from the tension of Mary and Joseph seeking a place to stay in Bethlehem, to the exuberance of the shepherds as they hasten from their flocks to Bethlehem. The cantata can be performed by a choir and soloists, accompanied by a piano or full orchestra (orchestral parts available on the internet). In addition, your church, school, etc., may want to have the lead singers clothed in appropriate costumes, in a dramatization of each song. Or you may want to use costumed actors silently enacting their parts while the singers perform.
