"Holiday in Havana" was composed following a week in Cuba. Written in an Afro-Cuban style, there is plenty of excitement for the band. After a polyrhythmic introduction, the melody is stated by a trumpet/trombone duet, who then each get their shot at a solo. After a key change, the full band returns for an exciting finish. This chart is reminiscent of music played by the Stan Kenton Orchestra of the 1950s.
