Product Description

Trois Chansons by Claude Debussy has been superbly arranged for Brass Quintet by Andrew Poirier. The work in three movements was composed for 4-part mixed a cappella choir based on medieval poetry of Charles, Duke of Orléans in the 15th century. The work was first performed in 1908 and is Debussy's only one for unaccompanied choir. Each work is in A-B-A form.

The overall effect is reminiscent of Renaissance music but transported into the Impressionist era of Debussy. The instrumentation is for standard brass quintet with B-flat Trumpets. The work is suitable for advanced performers and is about 6-7 minutes in length.

This work is unique in the brass quintet repertoire because of it's special blend of Renaissance and Impressionist choral and compositional techniques by Debussy.
