Product Description

This piece begins with stacked chords whose pitches then are used in a linear

fashion. A broad melody gets started but is always interrupted by highly

contrapuntal and staccato passages that still borrow from the main melody.

Later stacked chords come back as a means of punctuation but they are more

closely stacked to provide harmonic tension and contrast. The second

movement is built upon a minor third motive introduced by the cello and is

played with throughout the movement with an interplay between the three

voices sounding like a dialogue and dance. The third movement comes in fast

and somewhat furious with more biting dissonances releasing to a consonant

end.
