Set to a poem by Hermann Hesse, September (the final published work by Strauss) gorgeously captures the point in life when one wistfully accepts sweet death. This arrangement remains faithful to Strauss' original markings while adapting to the needs of a smaller ensemble and makes for a breathtaking performance. Arranged for clarinet, bassoon, horn, harp, violin, cello, and solo trumpet (or, optionally, voice as originally intended).
