Product Description

Élégie Op. 3, No. 1, composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff in 1892. The piece was originally part of Rachmaninoff's collection of piano pieces titled Morceaux de fantaisie.

This edition improves readability with reduced ledger lines, selective use of 1st/2nd endings to minimize repetition, and subtle layout adjustments for clarity.

Editorial Note
In the second beat of measure 90, Rachmaninoff originally wrote a G-flat in the upper voice, keeping it as part of the melodic line. But in the first published edition, the note was changed to a G-natural -- likely by an engraver who assumed the harmony remained an E-flat major seventh chord throughout the measure. That change carried over into many later editions and has influenced how the piece is often performed. This edition restores the original G-flat.
