A Rivendell String Quartet Arrangement - The Pop Standards Series

The western classic Tumbling Tumbleweeds, written by Bob Nolan (1908-1980), was originally a poem by Nolan entitled Tumbling Leaves. In 1934 Nolan, Leonard Slye (later known as Roy Rogers) and Tim Spencer formed a western singing group which became known as the Sons of the Pioneers. Hugh Farr soon joined the group on fiddle.

Needing new material for the group, Nolan remembered his old poem, changed "leaves" to "tumbleweeds," and set it to his own haunting melody. The result, Tumbling Tumbleweeds, has often been referred to as "the musical anthem of the West."
