This is a song I wrote one day thinking about years ago when there were a lot of pre-arranged marriages. In today's time, it's hard to imagine not being able to make the decision whether to get married or who to marry. This song ficticious, but I'm sure it was very common back then. In my song, a great granddaughter discovers her great grandmother's trunk in the attic. She finds her diary and is so intrigued she decides to read it. She is surprised to find out that her great grandmother's marriage was a pre-arranged one and at first she is sad because she actually was in love with someone else. She does as she was told and marries the one her parents want her to. She is sad at first, but she grows to love her husband. As time goes on, she only thinks about her first true love as something in the past, but is just a memory now for her. She has children of her own and of course this great granddaughter. I hope you enjoy this song and reflect as I did of what it would have been like for some people years ago.
