My Boston College Music Department colleague Daniel Callahan kept reminding me that he wants to hear my own rendition of Gabriel Fauré's "La Chanson d'Éve." I honestly did not know the work, and so I went on YouTube and found the cycle quite beautiful and touching.

The original book "La Chansons d'Éve" (1904) by Charles van Lerberghe contained 96 poems. Fauré chose ten for his song cycle. I will follow his lead.

This work is dedicated to Pope Francis who passed away on the morning when I completed the work ... In memoriam Pope Francis, 1936 - 2025.
