Product Description
This collection of primarily late piano pieces by Brahms was adapted for clarinet and piano, and the pieces make excellent companions to the two sonatas, Op. 120, that Brahms composed for the same combination late in his life. Brahms late piano works are widely considered to be among his most inspired creations. The pieces tend to be quite intricate contrapuntally, and giving some of the lines to the clarinet, with its contrasting timbre, helps to clarify this counterpoint. Even with some notes removed, the piano parts are still rather complicated. The pieces are appropriate for intermediate-advanced students and professionals alike. All of the pieces are given in their original keys, thus, those from Op. 76 and Op. 119 are arranged for clarinet in A, while Op. 116 and 117 may be played by either a B flat or an A clarinet. Op. 10, No. 4, meanwhile, is for clarinet in B flat. The PDF file of all the scores and parts is 162 pages. The sample audio file is taken from a live performance of Op. 116, No.s 4 and 7.
