Product Description
While Journey is actually the first movement of the Symphony for Concert Band in Bb Minor, it is a fine stand alone concert work in its own right. At roughly 12 minutes in length, it is a fine cornerstone work for the average band concert.
It is full of bravura, interesting melodies that appear in all the sections, a huge ending to the exposition (the form is classical sonata-allegro), and a sonic range that goes from a single solo instrument to the unleashed full forces of the symphonic concert band.
The parts for winds scoring is for: Piccolo, 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, English Horn, 2 Bassoons, 2 Alto Saxes, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, 3 Trumpets, Flugelhorn, 4 Horns, 3 Trombones, Euphonium, and Tuba.
Percussion scoring is for: Timpani (4 drums), Glockenspiel, Chimes, an optional Marimba part to be played only if a superior player is available, Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymbals, Triangle, and Tambourine.
