Product Description

Can can is a fast French dance in 2/4 time, which originated in Paris around 1830. It is still an attraction at the famous Parisian nightclub Moulin Rouge today. The most famous music for this dance was composed by Jacques Offenbach in his operetta Orphée aux enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld), which premiered on 21 October 1858 at the Théâtre des Bouffes-Parisiens. It was a great success and made Offenbach popular throughout Europe. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "Three Kings' Concert" on 6 January 2013 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria, and broadcasted live by Austrian television. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/la-chasse-die-jagd/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/la-chasse-die-jagd-paris-wien/hnum/10428714?iampartner=303&subid=umr62&ref=partner.jpc.de .
