This work has been adapted from an original orchestral score by Beethoven. It is designed for recital/concert performance. However, it stands as a great work just for study by trumpet players of all levels from High School through Professional. Tempos indicated are for college/professional level players. However, the work is adaptable at a wide range of tempos. Players should experiment to find a tempo that works for them. Players will note the possible use of octave choices and/or ossia at certain places in the piece. Players should choose what works best for their own level of performance as either option works as well as the other. If a key for the work has been chosen that is other than the original key it has been chosen to accomodate a reasonable key for Bb players and to keep the range for Bb trumpet from f# to C2 (high C) with few exceptions.
