Product Description
This is the solo piano version of my original mixed chamber work, The High Priestess. The piece was inspired by tarot card artwork, namely the hand drawn images created by Pamela Colman Smith and the major Arcana card of The High Priestess.
This lyrical solo can be played on its own or coupled with other works of the same mood and sensibility. Written in 6/8 time, in the key of F-sharp minor, the mysterious, somber melody is played above an undulating left hand. Like a boat on water, the singular melody is supported by a steady rhythm throughout. The piece shifts to lighter themes in A major, symbolizing hope and optimism. Here's an excerpt taken from the program notes from the chamber piece of the same name, the music aims to represent "characteristics of water and feminine energy...followed by strength, adaptability, seriousness, intuition, loving understanding, knowledge, introspection, and self-trust."
This piano solo is great for intermediate-advanced players.
