This is what I call Early Aguinaldo or Aguinaldo temprano, because it is from 19th century. Aguinaldo is the traditional folk Venezuelan Christmas music genre. Very little is known about its composer Ricardo Pérez (?-1886), who lived for a time in Maiquetía, in La Guaira state and died in Cúa, Miranda state. He was a proliphic composer of sacred music, zarzuelas, and aguinaldos, as well as salon music (waltzes, dances, etc.) In this arrangement I tried to keep the essence of traditional folk Venezuelan Christmas music. I include the chords to accompany with Venezuelan Cuatro (small four-string folk guitar) for a better interpretation. Lyrics are in Spanish. You will love to sing this Aguinaldo to your public.
