Beyonce's musical genius and impressive vocal range are on full display in this fun song, and I've attempted to capture both in this string quartet arrangement. The opening motive., (repeated throughout the song), transfers from Violin 1 to viola when the verse starts, with the Violin 2 on melody and Violin 1 switching to descant parts sung by backup singers in the original track. The cello stays dedicated to the electric baseline throughout this arrangement. Once the Violin 1 part has taken over the melody (just before the chorus), the parts stay in a more traditional format (cello on the bass line, viola and violin 2 on inner voices) for the remainder of the song to simplify the numerous transpositions (up a half step each time) that Beyonce makes. I notated a repeat for those who wish to emulate the longer version of this song that Beyonce recorded; if the shorter version is preferred, I suggest taking the second ending and ignoring the repeat. Measures are numbered, parts bowed, and rehearsal letters added for ease of sightreading.
