Product Description

'Sousa & Friends' is a highly exciting and energetic medley of marches composed by US and British composers. This piece required advanced musicians of professional wind orchestra or military band. Be sure to make this work part of your repertoire!

More on the composers:
"Entry of the Gladiators" (Czech: Vjezd gladiátorů) is a military march composed in 1897 by the Czech composer Julius Fučík. He originally titled it "Grande Marche Chromatique", reflecting the use of chromatic scales throughout the piece, but changed the title based on his personal interest in the Roman Empire.

The "Colonel Bogey March" is a British march that was composed in 1914 by Lieutenant F. J. Ricketts (18811945) (pen name Kenneth J. Alford), a British Army bandmaster who later became the director of music for the Royal Marines at Plymouth.

The "Royal Air Force March Past" is the official march of the Royal Air Force (RAF) and is used in some other Commonwealth air forces, such as the Royal Canadian Air Force. The original score was completed by Walford Davies in 1918 for the new RAF.

The "Pomp and Circumstance Marches" are a series of five marches for orchestra composed by Edward Elgar, together with a sixth march created from sketches. Composed by Elgar in 1901, March No. 1 was so well received that the very next year Elgar was encouraged to include it his coronation ode for King Edward VII.

The "Dam Busters" is the theme for the 1955 British war film The Dam Busters. The musical composition, by Eric Coates, has become synonymous with both the film and the real Operation Chastise. The Dam Busters March remains a very popular accompaniment to flypasts in the UK.

"Semper Fidelis", written in 1888 by John Philip Sousa, is regarded as the official march of the United States Marine Corps.

"The Washington Post" (often called "The Washington Post March") is a march composed by John Philip Sousa in 1889. Since then, it has remained as one of his most popular marches throughout the United States and many other countries.

The musical score of "633 Squadron" was written by the British composer Ron Goodwin and became very popular and well known to the public after the film's initial release. The theme was adapted for the computer games 1942 and Into the Eagle's Nest.
