Luis Antonio Calvo (1882-1945) is one of the most celebrated Colombian composers. He wrote a great amount of romantic works for piano in a special style called a "salon style". I wrote this arrangement for flue ensemble in hopes to capture the essence of his famous "salon style" especially for flutes.
Luis Calvo was driven by musical talent and the great dream of succeeding with the encounter of music. He was one of the most important and prolific musical composers in Colombia in the early 20th century. He went from humble begginnings in Gambita then playing through the great stages of Bogota. His hard work and determination paved his way into the history books of Colombia and world music. What an inspiration and if you would like to play some of his great works like "Anhelos" then this is the piece for your flute ensemble.
