Youll know it as The Teddy Bears Picnic, but this is the Public Domain piano piece, written long before lyrics and a title were added. The lyrics are still in copyright, and so is the title, even if the arrangement has no words.

And thats why the Public Domain title is probably a complete unknown to you.

My advanced-intermediate arrangement is based on a piano score published in 1907 and is faithful both to the key of the original and to the harmony and stylistic patterns that make the piece so distinctive and fun.

The workload is shared equally, and the piece is surprisingly under the fingers - it is the speed as much as the notes that mean that it best suits a confident and experienced duo. (I also have a quartet version on sale here which shares out the workload, making a piece that suits a less-experienced team).

The music comprises the opening Theme (which you can hear on the soundclip on the SMP website) and the Trio. Although the original music is not marked with a DC, such a repeat would make for an even more substantial concert item.

The dynamics broadly match those in the piano original, but any energetic alternative will work!

There is just a little fingering here and there - much of the rest will be self-evident.
