I came across the Prayer of Ignatius of Loyola in our hymnal one day at church. I was moved by the text and felt compelled to set it to music. Since Ignatius was originally from Spain, I had a friend of mine translate the text into Spanish. This in turn inspired the flavor of the melody and accompaniment for this work. I believe the message of this piece still resonates after all these centuries.
