Product Description

This folk song recounts the legend of a fur trader who wants to marry the daughter of American Indian Chief "Shenandoah." Various versions of the song became sea shanties sung by sailors who were travelling the Missouri River and then on to other parts of the world. The melody itself has the "roll and surge and freedom of a tall ship sweeping along the sea." The song is about longing for something that's lost or out-of-reach. This String Duo arrangement states the song 5 times and involves 2 key changes. The violin voices the melody 3 times, and the cello twice.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
