"La Paloma" is said to be the most frequently played song in the world. And it's about as world as it can be. Composer Sebastian Yradier was a Basque (Spain). It was first performed in Cuba, It's a Mexican love and protest song, a German sailors' lament and a Romanian funeral dirge.
