Promenade III takes its title from the Promenade group of five large sculptures by Anthony Caro (1996). This set of steel constructions is on permanent display in Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Musical material and form is derived from the contours and structures of the sculptures. Some sections of the piece are conventionally notated (and conducted), while other sections feature repetitive free improvisation on given material. Promenade III is flexibly scored in 15 instrumental parts. Suggestions for instrumentation are indicated. Note: this document is the full score only.
