SATB with sparse piano accompaniment. This haunting arrangement of the familiar Advent tune will show off the voices as modified chord structures draw attention from the audience. The soprano takes the melody in the first verse over an ATB drone. The second verse is sung over a repetitive piano chant as the alto takes over the melody halfway through and keeps it the rest of the piece. The soprano floats a descant in the third verse as the men reprise the first-verse drone, with everyone coming together in the end, culminating in a unison final tone. Great for church choirs, holiday choruses and accompanied caroling quartets!
