This fun operetta is a humorous story about a baker who started losing business due to people eating better and dieting. He struggled with depression and was tempted to give up his business, but then remembers what his dear, old, Papa would always say. The story has a happy ending! The music is energetic overall, with a touch of melancholy in appropriate places to match the story line. There's a bit of borrowing a tune from "The Barber of Seville" which is quite catchy! The music runs about 5 1/2 minutes, and begins with an introduction to the story that can be sung by a second person. There are 5 different musical themes. Overall the range is good for baritone through tenor; great for a male voice from B1-G3. Piano accompaniment and solo line are written in the score.
