Product Description

This fascinating little gem has its roots in the fugal style of J.S. Bach, but Mozart transforms the sombre tempo typical of a fugue into an extraordinarily lively dance and uses some unusual harmonic progressions to add even more humour and spice for performers and listeners to enjoy.

It's a very short item, originally written as a one-off piece for piano solo, but it is nevertheless full of the technical mastery of which Mozart was capable.

Tchaikovsky was captivated enough to orchestrate it as the first movement of his "Mozartiana" Suite, and his colourful version helped to inspire this new transcription by Richard Simm for two pianos.
