Product Description

Beethoven's Six Easy Variations on a Swiss Song, WoO 64, is a set of variations for piano composed by Ludwig van Beethoven between 1790 and 1792 in Bonn when he was 21 years old. The theme of the variations is a 17th-century Swiss song called "Dursli and Babeli," a favorite of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who described it as "a charming story of peasant love." The melody is light and soaring, and it resembles a hymn that followed a century or so later, "This Joyful Eastertide. "In variation I, Beethoven introduces a melody subjected to ornamentation with triplet intervallic and scalar patterns.
