Jazz overtones

This medley of lesser-known traditional carols Bye Bye Lully Lullay (aka The Coventry Carol) and Patapan begins contemplatively with a dark jazz waltz that builds in intensity to a big ending. The style is reminiscent of movie scores by Lalo Schifrin and Henry Mancini. Various brass mutes and techniques borrowed from jazz ensembles add unusual orchestral colors. Features a brief timpani/flute duo inspired by the lyrics Willie, bring your little drum; Robin, bring your fife and come. Also includes an optional improvised jazz piano solo over minor blues changes that can be easily cut if a capable pianist is not available. (5:57)
