Gobbi was known as a great violinist, but he was also a gifted pianist. This score is a transcription of his composition from the only record left of him playing the piano in Radio El Mundo in the last years of his life.

The tango is dedicated to Jesus of Nazareth as can be heard in the voice of Gobbi himself on the recording.
"Redención" became one of Gobbi's most famous tangos, perhaps partly to the version played by A. Piazzolla and his quintet, but surely also because of the beauty and depth of its music.

Alfredo Gobbi was "a great forgiven" in tango history. His work as composer, conductor, arranger and violinist was admired by great tango musicians. As Piazzola said "Alfredo was the father of all of us, those of us who make modern tango".
